Fallout's Iconic Beverages Make Their Way to Real-World Shelves
2025-10-20 06:34:24Fans of the Fallout series can now enjoy two of its most famous beverages in real life, as Nuka-Cola and Sunset Sarsaparilla have officially hit store shelves. These iconic drinks from the post-apocalyptic franchise offer enthusiasts a special treat to sip while exploring the wastelands of the games.
Nuka-Cola has been a staple in the Fallout universe since the very first game. Originally appearing in a distinctive blue bottle during the series' early days as a cRPG by Interplay, it served primarily as a currency for trading caps. However, with Bethesda's takeover starting with Fallout 3, the drink underwent a redesign to a dark-brown appearance and gained practical in-game benefits, including health restoration and crafting capabilities. The Nuka-World expansion for Fallout 4 introduced the ability for players to brew custom Nuka-Cola varieties for unique stat enhancements, while Fallout 76 features multiple types of Nuka-Cola that provide similar advantages.
The latest addition to the real-world Nuka-Cola lineup is Nuka-Grape, unveiled by Jones Soda Company, which has been collaborating with Fallout since 2009. According to the soda manufacturer's official website, this new flavor has already been spotted in grocery stores across the northeastern United States, even before official marketing campaigns began. Social media posts from excited customers show both individual bottles and 12-pack cases containing a variety of beverages, including the new Nuka-Grape, reportedly priced under $20 per case.
Root beer enthusiasts haven't been left out, as Sunset Sarsaparilla has also been found in stores. While not as historically significant as Nuka-Cola, which debuted in the games in 1997, Sunset Sarsaparilla became the beverage of choice for travelers along the New Vegas strip in Fallout: New Vegas, adding regional character to Obsidian Entertainment's 2010 installment. The mixed cases include four bottles each of Sunset Sarsaparilla and Nuka-Grape, along with four bottles of the sour berry lemonade-flavored Nuka-Cola Quantum.
Both Nuka-Grape and Nuka-Cola Quantum are listed for online purchase through the soda company's website, though Nuka-Grape is currently completely sold out. Customers can only purchase empty cardboard carriers for Quantum without the actual beverage. Meanwhile, some fans are speculating about whether Fallout 5 might introduce its own signature drink brand, though they'll have to wait patiently, as the game hasn't been announced yet and won't release until after The Elder Scrolls 6.
