Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 May Release a Week Early

According to recent rumors, Activision, the publisher behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is considering an earlier release date for the game. The original release date was set for November 14, 2025, which would have been the latest a mainline entry in the series has ever been released. However, industry insider and trusted Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope has claimed there is "evidence" of a potential release date change, suggesting that the game might be available a week earlier, on November 7, 2025.

This would mark the first time a mainline Call of Duty game has moved up its release date after its reveal. Previously, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was rumored to have had its release date moved up by a month in 2018 to avoid competition with Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released on October 26, 2018. However, this change was reportedly made behind the scenes before the game's official reveal.

If Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 does move up its release date, the exact reason behind the decision is unlikely to be revealed by Activision. Speculation suggests that the move might be related to the recent success of Battlefield 6, which launched on October 10, 2025, and has been breaking records for the series. Given the intense competition between Battlefield and Call of Duty in the first-person shooter genre, Activision may be looking to capitalize on the momentum by releasing Black Ops 7 sooner.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game will feature a near-future campaign set in 2035, with advanced technology and weaponry. Players can expect new multiplayer maps and modes, as well as the return of the Zombies mode. The game is rated Mature 17+ by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, and Use of Drugs.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has already undergone an open beta weekend earlier this month, allowing players to test out the game's new movement features, weapons, maps, and modes. In response to player feedback, Treyarch Studios has announced several changes, including a return to the traditional matchmaking system, the elimination of disbanding lobbies, and the cancellation of the controversial Carry Forward feature.
