PlayStation Plus Loses 9 Games in December 2025
2025-11-19 00:08:08PlayStation Plus subscribers are set to lose access to nine additional games in December 2025, with prominent titles such as Grand Theft Auto 3 - The Definitive Edition, Sonic Frontiers, and Forspoken among the departing selections. This upcoming removal will exclusively impact subscribers of the service's Extra and Premium tiers, as Essential tier users do not have access to the rotating game catalog.
In 2022, Sony implemented significant changes to its popular PlayStation Plus subscription service, restructuring it into three distinct tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. While subscribers to the latter two tiers enjoy access to an extensive library of video games among other advantages, PS Plus Essential members receive complimentary monthly games to retain (as long as their subscription remains active), online multiplayer capabilities, exclusive discounts, cloud storage, and additional features. Extra and Premium subscribers receive all the benefits of the Essential tier, plus the additional game catalog and enhanced offerings.
Games Departing from PS Plus in December 2025
- Forspoken (PS5)
- Battlefield 2042 (PS4, PS5)
- Grand Theft Auto 3 - The Definitive Edition (PS4, PS5)
- Sonic Frontiers (PS4, PS5)
- Surviving Mars (PS4)
- Star Trek: Bridge Crew (PS4, PSVR)
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge (PSVR2)
- Firefighting Simulator: The Squad (PS4, PS5)
- Arcade Paradise VR (PSVR2)
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members will need to bid farewell to these nine games in December as the service continues its regular catalog rotation. The departing titles span multiple platforms, with many available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, while others remain exclusive to PSVR and PSVR2 systems. Gaming enthusiasts have noted that this marks another instance where PlayStation has removed virtual reality titles from the service without replacing them with an equivalent number of new VR additions.
Although game removals often bring disappointment to subscribers, there's positive news on the horizon. November 18 promises to be a significant day for PlayStation Plus members, with Rockstar Games' blockbuster Grand Theft Auto 5 scheduled to return to the service. This will be accompanied by the addition of Pacific Drive, Still Wakes the Deep, MotoGP 25, and several other titles. Premium tier subscribers, who enjoy exclusive access to the classic game collection, will also receive Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Essential tier subscribers will need to wait until December for their next monthly game allocation.
While numerous games are scheduled to depart from PS Plus Extra and Premium in December, the service is simultaneously preparing to introduce another major title on December 2. As recently confirmed by Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption will be joining the PS Plus Extra catalog next month. Adding to the excitement, this will be the newly announced enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption, featuring 60 FPS performance, upgraded visual quality, HDR support, and 4K resolution compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
