Electronic Arts (EA) is claiming that Battlefield 6 is the best-selling shooter game of 2025, according to its website. This announcement positions Battlefield 6 above other major competitors such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and ARC Raiders. Interestingly, Battlefield 6 has received a 71% "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, despite facing some criticism regarding its paid battle pass and microtransactions.

The game has returned to a more traditional, quasi-realistic gameplay style that the series is known for. However, the introduction of Season 1 and the RedSec battle royale mode has led to some backlash from players who feel the game has slipped back into "unrealistic" elements, similar to the issues faced by its predecessor, Battlefield 2042.

Despite these criticisms, Battlefield 6 has reportedly sold over 10 million copies across all platforms. This success is in contrast to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which has seen a significant drop in sales, partly due to its availability on Xbox Game Pass, which offers free access to subscribers. In comparison, ARC Raiders, which launched just weeks after Battlefield 6, has sold only about 4 million copies as of November 11, despite its viral success.

Battlefield 6 offers a comprehensive multiplayer experience with various game modes, including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, as well as a global-scale campaign that takes players to iconic locations around the world. The game also features Battlefield Portal, a sandbox mode that allows players to create unique game modes and experiences.
