Dead by Daylight Announces Second Stranger Things Crossover Featuring Vecna
2025-11-29 01:33:17Behaviour Interactive, the developer behind Dead by Daylight, has officially announced that a second Stranger Things DLC chapter is on its way to the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, as Stranger Things becomes only the second intellectual property, following Resident Evil, to partner with Dead by Daylight for a repeat crossover.
The initial Dead by Daylight and Stranger Things collaboration debuted in September 2019 but was temporarily removed from the game two years later when the licensing agreement expired. Fortunately, this content made a comeback in November 2023 and remains available to players today.
The original DLC package, priced at $11.99 or 1,500 Auric Cells, introduced players to two Survivors from the Netflix series - Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler - along with the terrifying Killer known as The Demogorgon. Nancy's abilities primarily enhance team coordination and awareness, while Steve's perks focus on self-preservation and assisting teammates during critical moments. The Demogorgon's signature power allows it to create portals and traverse the map through the Upside Down dimension.
On November 27, Dead by Daylight's official social media channels released a 20-second teaser confirming the second Stranger Things DLC chapter. This announcement strategically aligns with the premiere of Stranger Things Season 5 on Netflix, whose first four episodes launched on November 26 in the United States.
Although brief, the teaser strongly suggests that Vecna, the primary antagonist from Stranger Things, will serve as the central figure of this new DLC, most likely appearing as a playable Killer. This development raises intriguing questions about how the Stranger Things interpretation of Vecna will differentiate from the Dungeons and Dragons version that joined Dead by Daylight in June 2024. The Stranger Things iteration might emphasize telepathic and mind control abilities rather than the magic-based powers of its fantasy counterpart.
If this new crossover follows the pattern established by the 2019 collaboration, players can likely expect two additional Survivors alongside Vecna. Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers emerge as the most probable candidates, given that the younger cast members might be considered too immature for the game's intense horror themes. The original crossover also introduced a map based on the Hawkins underground laboratory, suggesting the possibility of a new environment inspired by iconic Stranger Things locations such as the Creel House or Vecna's Upside Down lair.
The second Dead by Daylight and Stranger Things crossover is scheduled for January 2026, perfectly timed with the Stranger Things Season 5 finale expected early that year. With this release window, fans might receive additional DLC details during The Game Awards 2025. Dead by Daylight has a established history with the Geoff Keighley-hosted event, having revealed the 'Darkness Among Us' Chapter in 2018 and announcing The Casting of Frank Stone during the 2023 ceremony.
Speculation about the January 2026 Chapter has been circulating for weeks within the gaming community. While some leaks pointed toward a second Stranger Things partnership, other rumors suggested a potential third Resident Evil chapter or even a crossover with the Predator franchise.
