PlayStation Plus December 2025: Major Game Additions and Service Updates

2025-11-30 10:58:17

PlayStation Plus members should mark their calendars for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, as this date promises to be one of the most eventful days for the subscription service throughout the entire year. The first Tuesday of each month consistently brings excitement to PlayStation Plus Essential tier subscribers, as this is when new complimentary games become available. These monthly offerings are accessible to all subscription levels, including Extra and Premium tiers, making it a celebration for the entire PlayStation Plus community.

Typically, the monthly PlayStation Plus lineup features three titles distributed across PS4 and PS5 platforms. For example, the November 2025 selection included Stray, EA Sports WRC 24, and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. Stray presents players with an award-winning puzzle-platforming experience where they control a feline protagonist navigating a futuristic environment. EA Sports WRC 24 delivers realistic racing action, while Totally Accurate Battle Simulator offers humorous physics-based combat scenarios. Subscribers interested in adding these three games to their digital collections must do so before December 2, when they will be replaced by the December 2025 offerings.

Breaking from the usual pattern, December brings an expanded selection of five complimentary games to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Starting December 2, members can claim:

  • Killing Floor 3 (PS5)
  • LEGO Horizon Adventures (PS5)
  • Neon White (PS4/PS5)
  • Synduality: Echo of Ada (PS5)
  • The Outlast Trials (PS4/PS5)

Neon White and The Outlast Trials offer both PS4 and PS5 versions, while the remaining titles are exclusively available on PS5. This limited PS4 availability may disappoint gamers who haven't yet upgraded to the newer console, and this trend is expected to intensify in the coming year.

Sony previously announced that PlayStation Plus will gradually phase out its focus on PS4 titles beginning in January 2026. While PS4 games will still occasionally appear in the service's offerings throughout 2026, their frequency will significantly decrease. Future PS4 inclusions will likely occur only when games receive cross-generation releases, and titles exclusively developed for PS4 will rarely, if ever, join any PlayStation Plus tier starting in 2026.

The monthly free games represent just one aspect of the December 2 updates. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tier subscribers gain access to Red Dead Redemption, which receives a native PS5 release on the same day. The PS5 version of this critically acclaimed western adventure features performance enhancements compared to its PS4 counterpart, offering the definitive experience for both new players and returning fans.

Six days later, on December 8, Extra and Premium subscribers will welcome Skate Story to their gaming libraries. This day-one PlayStation Plus release follows the journey of a skateboarding demon and arrives ahead of the official mid-month update scheduled for December 16. While the complete list of games joining the Extra and Premium tiers on December 16 remains undisclosed, subscribers should prioritize playing titles scheduled for removal from the service, as several games will be departing PlayStation Plus on that date.
