Devolver Digital has officially announced Monster Train 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the hit indie deck-building roguelike. Developed by Shiny Shoe, the game is slated for a 2025 release on PC and consoles.

The original Monster Train, released in 2020, garnered critical acclaim for its unique blend of deck-building and strategic combat.  It saw releases on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and PS5, consistently receiving positive reviews and earning a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic.

Deck-building games offer inherent flexibility, allowing players to tailor their strategies.  Titles like the original Monster Train empower players to experiment with different playstyles, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.

Monster Train 2 promises to expand upon this successful formula.  Announced by Devolver Digital's publishing label, Big Fan, the sequel is currently slated for a 2025 launch. A demo is already available on Steam for PC gamers eager to get a taste of the action.

In addition to PC, Monster Train 2 will also be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. While pricing details haven't been confirmed, the original game's $24.99 price point may offer a hint.  Unlike the staggered release of its predecessor, Monster Train 2 is aiming for a simultaneous multi-platform launch.

The sequel introduces exciting new features, including new enemy factions, a wider array of cards, and refined gameplay mechanics. Players will have access to five new playable clans, each with unique strengths and strategic advantages.

Building upon the core gameplay loop of battling, recruiting units, upgrading cards, and experimenting, Monster Train 2 is set to deliver an even more compelling experience.

One of the key additions to Monster Train 2 is the introduction of 'Room' cards. This new card type offers powerful boosts specifically tailored to individual train floors, adding another layer of strategic depth.  Players can also look forward to new equipment parts granting powerful abilities, alongside new unit abilities requiring precise timing for maximum impact.

Beyond these core enhancements, Monster Train 2 will also include an Endless Mode, expanded customization options, leaderboards, and run mutators, offering endless replayability.
