Virtuos Expands Global Reach with New South Korea Studio Amidst Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Development
2025-03-13 04:56:27Singapore-based game developer Virtuos, known for its contributions to numerous AAA titles including the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is expanding its global presence with a new studio in South Korea. This strategic move aims to leverage South Korea's position as a major player in the gaming industry.
Currently, Virtuos is deeply involved in co-developing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater alongside Konami. This remake of the acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 3 is slated for release on August 28th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game's impending launch adds another layer of significance to Virtuos' expansion efforts.
The decision to establish a South Korean studio underscores Virtuos' commitment to fostering growth within the global game development community. The company envisions this new branch as a central hub for South Korean developers, offering resources and support to address the specific challenges they face.
Virtuos Seoul’s general manager emphasized the importance of the South Korean market, highlighting its size and potential. By establishing a local presence, Virtuos aims to contribute to the continued success of the region's game development scene.
This expansion comes at a pivotal moment for Virtuos. With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater nearing completion, the company is well-positioned to explore new opportunities and markets. Earlier this year, Virtuos also acquired three studios – Pipeworks Studios, Umanaia Interactive, and Abstraction – further solidifying its position in the industry.
Concerns about the new studio impacting the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater seem unfounded. The game appears to be in the final stages of development, with Konami recently revealing the PC system requirements. These requirements suggest a demanding game, needing at least 16GB of RAM and a powerful graphics card like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be available in two editions: the Standard Edition for $70 and the Digital Deluxe Edition for $80. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes exclusive costumes, a feature that has sparked some discussion among fans regarding DLC practices. A Digital Deluxe Collector's Edition will also be available, bundling the digital edition's content with additional extras.
