Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Golden Week Event: Shiny Hunting Guide

2025-04-28 12:08:15

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has announced an exciting Tera Raid and Mass Outbreak event to celebrate Japan's annual Golden Week. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet event provides players with enhanced opportunities to catch rare Shiny variants of Gimmighoul, Wiglett, Growlithe, and Swablu over a week-long period.

Gimmighoul, known as the Coin Chest Pokemon, is a unique Ghost-type creature found throughout Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While typically hiding in coin-covered chests, this elusive gray Pokemon can occasionally be spotted near ruins and road signs. Approaching a standing Gimmighoul causes it to drop a Gimmighoul Coin before fleeing, while Chest Form Gimmighoul can be battled and captured in specific locations. After collecting 999 Gimmighoul Coins, trainers can evolve Gimmighoul into the powerful Steel/Ghost-type Gholdengo.

Following the conclusion of the Salamence Tera raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers will soon enjoy improved odds of encountering Shiny variants of four different Pokemon. According to Serebii.net, the Golden Week event begins on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:00 PM Eastern and concludes on Wednesday, May 7, at 7:59 PM Eastern. This event aligns with Japan's Golden Week, a series of national holidays from April 29 to May 5. During this period, Mass Outbreaks of Wiglett, Growlithe, and Swablu will occur across Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium, respectively. Each of these Pokemon features a golden-colored Shiny form, with increased encounter rates during the event.
