Epic Games has introduced its first artificial intelligence-powered non-playable character (NPC) in Fortnite, featuring the iconic Darth Vader. The Battle Royale island is populated with various NPCs, ranging from hostile enemies to helpful allies. Each serves a unique purpose—hostile NPCs often drop Mythic weapons or Medallions when defeated, while friendly ones offer health items and valuable services during matches.

Players should approach powerful hostile NPCs cautiously early in the game, as they can be tough to defeat with basic gear. Friendly NPCs, however, provide free health items upon first interaction and sell useful goods. Additionally, players can now engage in conversations with NPCs, learning more about the game's lore and mechanics.

Previously, NPC interactions were limited to quests or lore exploration. However, with update 35.10, Epic Games is emphasizing social engagement through its new AI-powered Darth Vader NPC. Players can now converse with Darth Vader via voice or text chat, receiving match insights, loot hints, and fun facts.

Unlike the hostile Vader Samurai boss, this Darth Vader NPC is friendly—but don’t expect romantic exchanges. Game files restrict him from engaging in dating conversations. Additionally, he avoids topics like hate speech, illegal activities, and real-world politics. However, he is programmed to offer support for mental health concerns, directing players to professional help when needed.
