Neowiz is set to enhance Lies of P with two fresh difficulty modes and an exciting boss rush feature in an upcoming free update. These additions will launch simultaneously with Overture, the Lies of P prequel expansion.

Lies of P

Lies of P stands as a critically acclaimed action RPG that transports players to a grim, Soulslike reinterpretation of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio tale, set in the Belle Époque-inspired metropolis of Krat. Players assume the role of P, a puppet crafted by Geppetto who awakens amidst chaos as mechanical beings assault humanity. The journey to locate Geppetto and unravel the city's sinister mysteries forms the core narrative. Staying true to its Soulslike heritage, Lies of P delivers a demanding yet gratifying experience, confronting players with formidable bosses and intense combat scenarios. Following its remarkable success—surpassing seven million players—the developer unveiled Overture, a prequel DLC that transports players to the onset of the Puppet Frenzy in Krat. Now, Neowiz has disclosed additional surprises accompanying the DLC release.

According to Video Games Chronicle, game director Jiwon Choi shared details about Lies of P: Overture. The forthcoming DLC not only delivers new narrative content but also introduces Battle Memories, a rush mode enabling players to revisit and re-challenge every boss from both the main game and DLC. Additionally, the Overture launch will coincide with a complimentary base game update introducing two novel difficulty settings—Butterfly's Guidance and Awakened Puppet—while the original difficulty (currently labeled as "Legendary Stalker") remains unchanged.

Jiwon Choi explained that the studio's objective is to ensure broader accessibility to both the Lies of P: Overture DLC and core game experience, regardless of player proficiency. This decision emerged from both community feedback and internal developer discussions. Choi stressed that these additional difficulty options will widen the game's appeal and accommodate diverse player preferences.

With this strategic move, Neowiz diverges from FromSoftware's conventional approach to difficulty in games. The "Soulslike" classification typically implies a singular, uncompromising challenge level that demands players experiment with various builds and tactics to overcome adversaries. However, amid ongoing discussions about difficulty in Souls games, Neowiz has charted an alternative course, enhancing accessibility for those unwilling to invest excessive hours mastering singular encounters.
