MindsEye: The Ambitious GTA Rival with Revolutionary Creation Tools
2025-05-27 21:14:18Build A Rocket Boy has unveiled exciting new details about the creation tools in MindsEye, along with its ambitious post-launch roadmap. These revelations come just two weeks before the game's mid-June launch.
Originally announced in March 2023, MindsEye was described as a unique game-within-a-game experience, accessible through its GTA competitor Everywhere. What sets this project apart is its visionary director, Leslie Benzies, the former lead developer of the GTA series.
Build A Rocket Boy recently released another MindsEye trailer, accompanied by details about its Game Creation Tools. These tools, part of Everywhere, will empower players to craft diverse scenarios within MindsEye's cyberpunk universe. The toolkit integrates with the studio's User Generated Content (UGC) platform, designed to support future Everywhere titles.
While specifics about UGC integration remain limited, the Game Creation Tools are touted as "deceptively easy-to-use," capable of crafting everything from high-speed chases to stealth missions. Build A Rocket Boy will utilize these tools to roll out regular content updates, including new challenges and missions. Additionally, the studio will periodically introduce new assets for players to incorporate into their creations.
"MindsEye has a future filled with diverse episodes and interactive experiences that will keep the Build A Rocket Boy universe rapidly expanding for decades to come," the studio stated. While UGC is a major focus, MindsEye also features a compelling story mode following former soldier Jacob Diaz as he uncovers the truth about his mysterious past.
Scheduled for release on June 10, MindsEye will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Pre-orders, open since March at $59.99, include automatic upgrades to the Deluxe Edition with cosmetic packs and bonus content like "Horde Mode." The studio hasn't confirmed pricing for post-launch content or the standalone Deluxe Edition.
