MindsEye: A Futuristic Adventure Designed for Modern Gamers
2025-06-02 07:11:40The highly anticipated futuristic action-adventure MindsEye from developer Build A Rocket Boy features a concise 20-hour main campaign - a deliberate creative decision according to director Leslie Benzies. In an industry trending toward massive open-world experiences, this streamlined approach aims to deliver a satisfying narrative that modern players can realistically complete.
The inevitable comparisons to Grand Theft Auto aren't coincidental. Benzies began his career at DMA Design (later Rockstar North) in 1995, eventually rising to studio president before departing in 2016. His extensive resume includes producing ten GTA titles, starting with the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto 3.
In a recent GamesIndustry.biz interview, Benzies explained his philosophy: "We're designing for an era where players juggle countless entertainment options. The 20-hour sweet spot provides substantial content while respecting players' time." While packed with side activities, the focused main story ensures players experience the narrative core without overwhelming commitment.
The relatively short reveal-to-launch window (releasing June 10, 2025) reflects Build A Rocket Boy's startup status. "Prolonged marketing campaigns are financially challenging for new studios," Benzies noted. "More importantly, today's audiences move quickly - we want to maintain momentum rather than risk losing attention."
Beyond the main game, MindsEye will introduce creation tools allowing players to design and share custom content. The studio plans regular updates with new assets, missions, and challenges, ensuring long-term engagement.
