Sega Sammy has officially announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio has crossed the 2 million sales threshold. While this achievement solidifies the game's commercial success, sales data reveals a steep decline following its record-breaking launch.

The highly anticipated JRPG from Atlus launched on October 11, 2024 for PC and consoles. Within just 24 hours, the game had already surpassed 1 million copies sold, setting a new benchmark for Atlus's fastest-selling title.

Recent financial reports from Sega's June 2025 Management Meeting show the game reached 2 million sales by March 31, 2025. While this represents steady growth, the sales trajectory shows a dramatic slowdown compared to the explosive first-day performance.

The game initially outpaced Persona 5's sales records, but failed to maintain similar momentum. For comparison, Persona 5 reached 2 million sales within three months, while Metaphor: ReFantazio took nearly eight months to achieve the same milestone.

Studio Zero, the Atlus team behind the game led by veteran director Katsura Hashino, has already begun development on their next project. The studio previously worked on Catherine: Full Body before creating this original fantasy RPG.
