Capcom has unveiled exciting details about Sagat, the towering Muay Thai specialist who will be joining Street Fighter 6 as its next DLC combatant. Since its debut in June 2023, Street Fighter 6 has been steadily expanding its character lineup with both classic fighters and fresh faces, with the Capoeira expert Elena being the most recent addition earlier this month.

The game is preparing to launch its third wave of DLC content, kicking off with one of the franchise's most iconic characters. First appearing as the final boss in the original 1987 Street Fighter, Sagat has been a staple in every subsequent mainline entry. Known for his imposing physique and devastating Muay Thai techniques, Sagat has oscillated between villain and anti-hero throughout the series, driven by his relentless pursuit to prove himself as the world's strongest fighter. While absent from Street Fighter 6's initial roster, the Muay Thai master is finally making his grand return.

Capcom confirmed an August 5 release date for Sagat in a recent announcement that also revealed new details about his role in Street Fighter 6. According to reports from Gematsu, Sagat now carries the title "Emperor of Muay Thai," and players will be able to train with him in Thailand through the game's World Tour mode. A newly released trailer showcases Sagat's incredible power, including a scene where he replants a massive tree only to demolish it with his signature Tiger Uppercut.

To celebrate Sagat's arrival, Street Fighter 6 will introduce a special Sagat Arrives Fighting Pass on July 4, packed with Sagat-themed content including new EX colors for Ryu and Ken. The August 5 update will also bring the Outfit 4 collection, featuring beachwear costumes for several characters including Cammy, Luke, and Chun-Li, with more swimwear outfits planned for later release.

Looking ahead, Street Fighter 6's Year 3 DLC roadmap includes the pyrokinetic agent Crimson Viper this autumn, the grappler Alex in early 2026, and the mysterious telekinetic fighter Ingrid in late spring 2026. For now, players can prepare to test their skills with Sagat when the legendary warrior steps back into the ring this August.
