Battlestate Games has announced a significant adjustment to Escape from Tarkov's hardcore wipe, reducing boss spawn rates from 100% to 70%. This change comes just days after the controversial hardcore wipe was implemented in patch 0.16.8.0 on July 8, 2025.

The hardcore wipe represents a radical departure from Escape from Tarkov's traditional progression resets. For the first time since the game's 2017 closed beta, Battlestate introduced mechanics specifically designed to increase difficulty, including the initially guaranteed boss spawns that have now been scaled back.

Community Divided Over Spawn Rate Changes

The adjustment has created a rift within the Escape from Tarkov community. While some players welcome the reduced spawn rate as making the game more accessible, others argue it undermines the hardcore wipe's intended challenge.
