The development team behind Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 has confirmed plans to remove a divisive Guitar Hero Easter egg recently discovered by players. This remastered collection, developed by Iron Galaxy and released in July 2025, brings back the classic skateboarding experience with modern enhancements.

Iron Galaxy's remake combines the third and fourth installments of the legendary skateboarding franchise, offering players the chance to revisit iconic locations with up to eight skaters simultaneously. The game features expanded customization options through its Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park modes, along with numerous hidden references that pay homage to pop culture.

The controversial reference was found in the Waterpark level, one of three completely new areas added to this remastered collection. Players discovered a Guitar Hero game disc discarded in a trash can, sparking debate about whether this represented playful rivalry or disrespect toward another iconic gaming franchise.

Iron Galaxy addressed the situation through their official Reddit account, stating: "We have the utmost respect for everyone who makes games" and promising to investigate how this reference made it into the final release. The studio confirmed the Easter egg will be removed in an upcoming patch.

This isn't the first time Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 has faced controversy regarding its Easter eggs. Previously, the game drew criticism for locking a Bikini Bottom (SpongeBob SquarePants) reference behind its Deluxe Edition paywall.
