Developer Funcom has released a critical update for their survival MMO Dune: Awakening, deploying hotfix 1.1.15.0 in July 2025. This patch primarily targets the notorious item duplication glitch that players had been exploiting through trading systems. The game, which launched in June 2025, immerses players in Frank Herbert's iconic desert world of Arrakis through a multiplayer survival experience set in an alternate timeline without Paul Atreides.

Currently available on Steam with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions planned for 2026, Dune: Awakening continues to evolve through regular updates. The previous July patch focused on endgame improvements for both PvP and PvE content, expanding the Deep Desert area and adjusting Tier 6 resource distribution between PvE and PvP zones.

The hotfix specifically addresses the duplication vulnerability that affected the Exchange trading system and player inventories. While duplicated items might still appear visually on clients, the patch ensures they no longer functionally exist in the game world. This comes after Funcom had to reimburse players for losses during a previous update that affected vehicles, equipment, and bases in the Deep Desert region.

Looking ahead, Funcom has identified griefing behavior as their next major focus, with plans to implement solutions in upcoming patches. The current hotfix also improves overall server stability and resolves connection issues related to specific error codes.

In parallel with technical improvements, Funcom is engaging the community through a building contest where players can showcase their architectural creations for exclusive rewards. Early submissions on platforms like Reddit demonstrate impressive creativity, including recreations of real-world landmarks like the Great Sphinx of Giza.
