Wheel World Joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as a Day-One Release
2025-07-24 00:15:05Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now enjoy Wheel World, the latest addition to Microsoft's subscription service. This day-one release stands as the 15th game to join Xbox Game Pass in July 2025 and the 93rd title added since the beginning of the year.
Developed by U.S. studio Messhof, Wheel World offers players a distinctive biking adventure where they assume the role of Kat, a cyclist chosen by ancient spirits to prevent universal catastrophe. Players must pedal through challenging races and expansive exploration to recover stolen legendary bike parts necessary for performing "the Great Shift ritual" that will save the world. The game features deep bike customization mechanics and showcases a striking cel-shaded visual style inspired by comic book aesthetics.
Originally announced as Ghost Bike before undergoing delays and a rebranding in October 2024, Wheel World finally launched on July 23 through publisher Annapurna Interactive. True to initial promises, the game debuted simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and PC at 9am PT / 12pm ET. While designed for current-generation consoles, Xbox One players can access Wheel World via Xbox Cloud Gaming with an Ultimate subscription.

The development of Wheel World's expansive open world incorporated procedural generation during early stages, allowing Messhof to dynamically adjust roads and environments. This approach facilitated extensive testing of various race routes and mission types, from delivery tasks to challenging hill climbs. As development progressed, the team transitioned to manual design, carefully hand-crafting key areas and strategically placing visual landmarks to create an immersive, navigable world.
As a day-one release, Wheel World currently remains exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Following Microsoft's typical release patterns, the game will likely become available on the Standard tier between January and July 2026.
Xbox Game Pass continues to expand with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Grounded 2 scheduled for release on July 24 and 29 respectively. Meanwhile, three titles - Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Gigantic - will leave the service on July 31.
