Steam users were recently surprised to find The Day Before, the infamous early-access survival shooter, listed in the "Coming Soon" section of the Steam store. This unexpected appearance has raised eyebrows, considering the game was removed from sale on December 11, 2023, just four days after its troubled launch.

Originally announced in January 2021, The Day Before faced skepticism from the start. Developer Fntastic encountered multiple delays, accusations of unpaid labor, and even a trademark dispute that temporarily pulled the game from Steam. When it finally launched in early access on December 7, 2023, the game quickly became a disaster, leading to mass refunds and its removal from the platform.

A Reddit user named Thadgarcy shared a screenshot showing The Day Before listed under the "Coming Soon" tab in Steam's MMO category. While some speculated this could signal a comeback attempt by Fntastic, it's more likely a glitch in Steam's system. The game remains searchable on Steam but is no longer available for purchase.

This isn't the first time The Day Before has mysteriously reappeared. Steam forum discussions from as far back as November 2024 noted sporadic reappearances in players' wishlists. Given that the game's servers were shut down long ago, these sightings are likely due to technical errors rather than an actual revival.

Despite the fallout from The Day Before, Fntastic is moving forward with a new project called ITEMS, a prop hunt game. However, the developer is already facing criticism for hosting a map design competition where winners receive a free copy of the game instead of monetary compensation—echoing earlier accusations of exploiting unpaid labor.
