EA Announces Major Game Shutdowns in October 2025
2025-07-28 23:18:21October 2025 will be a disappointing month for fans of Electronic Arts (EA) games, as the company has announced the discontinuation of four major titles. EA has been steadily phasing out several games throughout the year, starting with a wave of mobile game shutdowns earlier in 2025.
The shutdowns began with popular mobile titles like The Simpsons: Tapped Out and Frontline Commando: D-Day in January, followed by UFC 3 in February and EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 and NCAA 14 in March. While Madden NFL 21 was discontinued in June, EA has now revealed additional shutdowns scheduled for October.
Originally, FIFA 23 was set to shut down on December 12, but EA has moved the date forward to October 30. Alongside FIFA 23, three other games will also be discontinued: NHL 21 on October 6, Need for Speed: Rivals on October 7, and Madden NFL 22 on October 20. Players who want to experience these games fully should do so before these dates, as online features will no longer be available afterward.

While EA provides advance notice for these shutdowns, the frequent discontinuation of games raises concerns among players about the long-term value of investing in EA titles. Despite this, EA's annual sports franchises continue to perform well in sales, with Madden NFL 26 and EA Sports FC 26 expected to launch soon.
