Niantic has officially announced an epic Legendary Shadow Raid event for Pokemon GO in August 2025, featuring two formidable Shadow Pokemon - Shadow Giratina and Shadow Kyogre. This thrilling event marks the climax of the Delightful Days season, offering trainers worldwide an opportunity to capture these powerful creatures.

Following the recent Ultra Unlock event that brought back Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia, Pokemon GO continues to surprise players with this new challenge. The Shadow versions of these Legendary Pokemon promise to deliver an even greater test of skill for dedicated trainers.

The Delightful Days: Taken Over event will run from August 11 to August 17, 2025, with several exciting features:

• Increased Team GO Rocket activity at PokeStops and balloons
• Debut of shiny Salandit
• Special Research rewarding a Super Rocket Radar
• Shadow Kyogre's first appearance in five-star Shadow Raids
• Additional daily Raid Pass during the weekend event

Trainers will have the chance to rescue Shadow Giratina by defeating Giovanni, while Shadow Kyogre will appear in special weekend raids. The event also introduces several quality-of-life improvements for Shadow Pokemon, including the temporary ability to remove the Frustration move using Charged TMs.

The Taken Over event follows closely after Munchlax's Hatch Day and precedes the highly anticipated GO Fest: Max Finale on August 23-24, which will feature the debut of Eternatus. The season concludes with Rookidee Community Day on August 30, as voted by the Pokemon GO community.
