Battlefield 6: Larger Maps and Exciting Features Revealed
2025-08-13 08:34:56Dice's lead Battlefield producer, David Sirland, has hinted that Battlefield 6 will feature even larger maps than those seen in the recent open beta. This exciting revelation has thrilled fans of the franchise, who are eager for more diverse and expansive battlegrounds in the upcoming first-person shooter.
The highly anticipated Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, 2025. Players got a taste of the action during the open beta, which ran from August 9 to 10 and will return from August 14 to 17. According to EA, the first beta weekend was a massive success, setting a new franchise record with over 521,000 concurrent players on Steam.
Some players noted that the beta maps felt smaller than expected. In response, David Sirland explained that map size affects gameplay speed, and the beta maps were chosen to deliver a high-octane experience. However, he assured fans that larger maps are in the game and will be revealed soon, with their pacing adjusted accordingly.
The open beta featured four maps: Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, and Empire State (available only in the second weekend). Five additional maps—Operation Firestorm, Saints Quarter, New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and Manhattan Bridge—are planned for release. Rumors suggest Mirak Valley will be the largest map in the game.
While the beta was a hit, some issues emerged. Players reported conflicts with Battlefield 6's anti-cheat software, particularly when Valorant was installed, as both games require kernel-level access. Additionally, developers are investigating a bug causing unexpectedly fast time-to-death, where players die instantly without visible damage indicators.
