Battlefield 6, the highly anticipated first-person shooter from EA and Battlefield Studios, has kicked off with impressive sales numbers. According to various reports, the game has sold approximately 5 million copies in its first week. This marks a significant achievement for the franchise, positioning Battlefield 6 as one of the biggest launches in the series' history.

Prior to its launch, Battlefield 6 had already garnered significant interest. Ampere estimates that 1.7 million copies were pre-ordered on Steam alone. The game's open beta attracted an estimated 22 to 25 million players, with peak daily active users reaching 10.4 million. This massive participation in the beta phase indicates strong player engagement and anticipation for the full release.

Sales across different platforms have also been notable. Steam accounted for the majority of sales, with 65.7% of total sales, translating to 3.5 million copies sold and over $220 million in revenue. The PS5 followed with 1.5 million copies sold (23.7% of total sales), while Xbox Series X|S accounted for 1.2 million units sold (19.6% of total sales).

Player retention data from the beta phase shows that Battlefield 6 has been successful in attracting players from its main competitor, Call of Duty. Ampere reported that 48% of Steam players who tried the Battlefield 6 beta did not return to Call of Duty afterward. On Xbox, this number was 29%, and on PlayStation, it was 24%. This suggests that Battlefield 6 has not only retained its own player base but has also drawn players away from Call of Duty.

Despite the strong start, Battlefield 6 faces the challenge of sustaining its player base and achieving EA's ambitious goal of reaching 100 million players. The game's roadmap includes several updates and new content drops, such as new maps, weapons, and limited-time events, aimed at keeping players engaged. The introduction of a free Battle Royale mode is also expected to drive further player growth.
