Creator Toby Fox recently shared an update on the much-anticipated Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, reassuring fans that the 2025 release is still on target.  While celebrating the shared anniversary of Deltarune and its predecessor, Undertale, Fox offered insight into the development process, specifically addressing console testing.

In a recent BlueSky post, Fox explained that console testing is currently in progress. While progress has been made and the number of bugs has decreased,  thorough testing of the remaining content is still required. Notably, testing on the PlayStation 5 version hasn't commenced yet. Another key focus is ensuring seamless save file transfer from the demo to the full game on consoles, a functionality that has only recently become feasible.

Deltarune, which shares similar gameplay elements with the critically acclaimed Undertale, is planned as a seven-chapter saga.  Chapters 1 and 2 debuted in 2018 and 2021, respectively, earning praise for their engaging storyline, memorable characters, and captivating soundtrack, also composed by Fox.  The upcoming Chapters 3 and 4 are set to be released simultaneously across all platforms, a significant shift from the staggered PC-first release strategy of the earlier chapters.

Fox had previously confirmed in July 2024 that Chapter 4 was fully playable, albeit requiring some final polishing.  He reiterated his commitment to a 2025 launch for both chapters, assuring fans that they are "100% coming out in 2025."  Development on Chapter 5 is also underway, with Fox reporting steady progress in December 2024.
