Activision, the publisher of Call of Duty, has launched 'Recon Squad,' a new initiative aimed at directly engaging with the community to improve the player experience in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.  This invite-only program seeks to collect valuable feedback throughout the games' respective seasons.

Despite initial positive reception for Black Ops 6, the game, along with Warzone, has faced challenges due to bugs, performance issues, and prevalent cheating.  Activision has already acknowledged these issues, prioritizing gameplay improvements and bug fixes over content additions in previous updates.

Warzone, in particular, has been a focus of community concern.  Activision's commitment to addressing player feedback through Recon Squad signals a renewed effort to revitalize both titles.

Announced alongside Season 2 Reloaded, Recon Squad aims to foster a more direct line of communication between Activision and the Call of Duty community.  The program will encompass a variety of feedback channels, including surveys, online forums, and focused group discussions.

Recon Squad membership is by invitation only, but Activision emphasizes that the program will be extended to a diverse range of players, not solely those with extensive playtime. The company aims to gain insights from a broad spectrum of the player base.

Participants will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Call of Duty franchise by sharing their feedback directly with Activision.  As an added incentive, Recon Squad members can earn points redeemable for in-game rewards in both Warzone and Black Ops 6. The specific nature of these rewards remains unclear, but possibilities range from Double XP tokens to COD Points and cosmetic items.

Invitations to join Recon Squad will be sent to randomly selected Call of Duty players via the email address linked to their Activision ID.

The launch of Recon Squad follows a significant decline in Call of Duty's player count on Steam, highlighting the need for improved communication and responsiveness to community concerns. By actively involving players in the development process, Activision hopes to address these concerns and re-engage the player base.  Cheating remains a significant issue in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, and Recon Squad offers a platform for players to express their concerns and contribute to potential solutions.
