Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC Receives Sixth Major Update for Enhanced Performance and Stability

Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software have rolled out another substantial update for the PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the sixth since its launch earlier this year.  This latest patch, version 1.318.1.0, is currently available for download on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, bringing with it a series of important bug fixes and stability enhancements.

Following the PlayStation 5 release in October 2023, Insomniac Games partnered once again with Nixxes Software to bring the highly anticipated sequel to PC. While the initial console launch was met with widespread acclaim, the PC version unfortunately received a more mixed reception.  Released on Steam and the Epic Games Store in January, performance issues plagued the port, leading to player frustration.  Reports of frequent crashes, some as often as every 10 minutes, along with general performance complaints, painted a picture of a less-than-optimal experience.  Recognizing these issues, the developers have diligently worked to rectify them with a consistent stream of updates.

Thanks to numerous updates in recent weeks, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC has seen its Steam rating climb to "mostly positive."  However,  Insomniac and Nixxes remain committed to addressing ongoing player concerns and have delivered yet another update.  The official patch notes (detailed below) for update 1.318.1.0 outline various bug fixes and stability improvements. Key fixes include addressing issues with frame generation, resolving a high frame-rate related bug, enhancing NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and more.

Just last week, a fifth update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC brought a multitude of performance optimizations, stability enhancements, and bug fixes. This previous patch focused on improving performance during sequences featuring Venom and Symbiotes and implemented several ray tracing enhancements.  Additional changes included visual bug fixes and optimizations for reflections, shadows, and textures.

The dedication of both studios to enhancing the PC version has been well-received by fans, who have endured glitches and performance issues since the game's PC launch. The consistent updates have fostered a positive sentiment within the community, with players expressing appreciation for the developers' responsiveness and commitment to improvement.
