Xbox Game Pass is set to remove five titles later today, August 31, with three fan-favorite cooperative games among the departures, including the popular looter-shooter Borderlands 3. Despite these exits, August 2025 has proven to be a net positive month for Microsoft's subscription service, with more games joining than leaving the platform this month.

Microsoft typically refreshes its Game Pass catalog twice monthly, with titles rotating out at both the beginning and middle of each month. The previous rotation occurred on August 16, when three games—Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload—were removed from the service.

Today's scheduled departures include Borderlands 3, Ben 10 Power Trip, Sea of Stars, This War of Mine: Final Cut, and PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay. With the exception of This War of Mine, all of these titles feature cooperative multiplayer modes, with three of them being particularly popular among co-op gaming enthusiasts.

PAW Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay primarily targets younger audiences, which—combined with its mixed critical reception—may explain why it remained somewhat under the radar during its Game Pass tenure. However, for fans of the puppy-themed franchise seeking cooperative experiences, it delivers a consistently enjoyable adventure. Both the PAW Patrol adaptation and Ben 10 Power Trip joined Xbox Game Pass in December 2021, making them the longest-running titles among this month's departures.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Borderlands 3 managed only four months on the service before its removal. Brief Xbox Game Pass appearances aren't unusual for 2K games, and this particular inclusion likely served as promotional support for the upcoming Borderlands 4, scheduled for release on September 12. Following today's departures, Xbox Game Pass will have removed eight titles throughout August 2025. Nevertheless, the month concludes as a net positive for subscribers, with 13 new games having joined the service.
