Firaxis Games is set to release the highly anticipated update 1.1.1 for Civilization 7, bringing a host of quality-of-life enhancements and balance adjustments to the acclaimed turn-based strategy game.

Following the game's release in February 2025, players offered valuable feedback, prompting Firaxis to address specific concerns and enhance the overall gameplay experience. Creative Director Ed Beach outlined the key changes in a video preview released on March 25, 2025, just a day before the update's launch.

One of the most significant additions in update 1.1.1 is the 'Quick Move' feature. This highly requested functionality allows units to instantly move to their designated destination, significantly speeding up gameplay and reducing micromanagement.  This is particularly helpful in the later stages of the game when managing large empires can become cumbersome. The update also introduces a 'Restart Game' button, enabling players to quickly regenerate the map with the same faction and leader while maintaining their chosen settings. This provides greater control over starting positions and allows for optimized gameplay strategies. Additionally, players gain more control over map generation through new options. The 'standard' setting maintains the existing, potentially asymmetrical map generation.  A new 'balanced' option ensures more equitable distribution of resources and territory across all civilizations, promoting fairer competition, especially in multiplayer matches.

Addressing balance concerns, the update adjusts the Modern Age progression by increasing the costs associated with its Techs and Civics. This extends the duration of the Modern Age, allowing players more time to develop their civilizations before transitioning to the next era. This adjustment acknowledges community feedback regarding the pacing of the game and aims to provide a more balanced and engaging experience.

The upcoming patch also includes improvements to the user interface and AI behavior, alongside bug fixes and optimizations.  The full patch notes will be available upon the update's release.
