2025-05-08 23:34:352K has officially announced that Mafia: The Old Country will launch on August 8. Alongside the release date, fans were treated to a brand-new gameplay trailer and additional details about the highly anticipated title—including its surprisingly budget-friendly price.
The fourth main installment in the Mafia franchise was first revealed during 2K’s Gamescom showcase in August 2024. The publisher had initially promised a 2025 release window, and now we have a concrete date to mark on our calendars.
2K has now locked in August 8 as the official release date for Mafia: The Old Country. While it was previously confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the publisher has also announced day-one GeForce Now support, allowing PC players to stream the game via Nvidia’s service. The release date was accompanied by the game’s first full gameplay trailer, giving fans a deeper look into its immersive world.
The May 8 announcement also marked the opening of pre-orders for Mafia: The Old Country. The game will be available in two editions: Standard ($49.99) and Deluxe ($59.99)—both significantly cheaper than the typical $69.99 price tag of modern AAA releases. The Deluxe Edition includes a wealth of bonus content, such as exclusive weapons like the Lupara Speciale shotgun and Vendetti Speciale pistol, along with the Stiletto Speciale knife, Immortale charm, and Padrino outfit. Players will also receive the Eckhart Speciale limousine, Cosimo horse, and accessories. Additionally, the Deluxe Edition comes with the Gatto Nero Pack, featuring the Velocita charm, Bodeo Nero pistol, Gatto Nero racing outfit, and Carozella Nero racing car. A digital soundtrack, artbook, and developer notes round out the package.
Pre-ordering Mafia: The Old Country grants players the Soldato outfit, Scannaturi Speciale knife, Lupara charm, and Tesoro horse with accessories. This Soldato Pack will likely be available for separate purchase post-launch.
Hangar 13 plans to share more insights during its upcoming PAX East developer panel, scheduled for later today at 2pm ET / 11am PT / 7pm BST. Recent ESRB rating details have also confirmed that Mafia: The Old Country is set in 1905, 25 years before the events of the original Mafia game. This prequel marks the franchise's debut on Unreal Engine 5 and is the first new mainline entry since Mafia 3 in 2016.
