Renowned game developer Hideki Kamiya, the creative mind behind the original Devil May Cry series, has recently sparked excitement among fans by expressing his enthusiasm for a potential remake of the classic action game. In a candid YouTube Q&A session, the legendary designer revealed his thoughts on revisiting one of Capcom's most beloved franchises with modern technology.

While Capcom previously attempted to reboot the series with 2013's DmC: Devil May Cry, none of the mainline entries have received a complete ground-up remake. This stands in contrast to Capcom's successful Resident Evil remakes, including Resident Evil 2 - which Kamiya originally directed. Given this track record, a Devil May Cry remake seems like a natural next step for the publisher.

During his YouTube appearance, Kamiya addressed numerous fan questions ranging from personal topics to game design philosophy. When asked about remaking his classic titles, he responded: "As for a Devil May Cry remake - of course I'd love to do that." The designer admitted that while he rarely replays his own games, occasional glimpses of DMC gameplay remind him how much the industry has evolved: "This really does feel like 24-year-old game design."

Kamiya also shared intriguing insights about his other iconic franchise, Bayonetta. He expressed regret about certain narrative elements in Bayonetta 3, particularly regarding the underdeveloped antagonist Singularity. This revelation comes as he explained his design philosophy shift from the first game's lengthy cutscenes to prioritizing gameplay in subsequent titles.

Since leaving PlatinumGames in 2023, Kamiya has formed a new studio called Clovers and partnered with Capcom to work on an Okami sequel. While this project occupies his current focus, his recent comments suggest he's open to returning to the Devil May Cry universe when the opportunity arises.
