Activision Ends Support for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

2025-05-17 09:34:34

In a significant move for the mobile gaming landscape, Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will cease receiving updates and new content. The publisher revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile didn't achieve the commercial success needed to justify continued development, shifting focus instead to the thriving PC and console versions.

The mobile adaptation launched on March 21, 2024, bringing the intense battle royale experience to smartphones. Despite generating $1.6 million in its first four days and receiving periodic updates, the game's 2025 outlook grew increasingly uncertain as update frequency diminished, culminating in Activision's May 16 announcement.

Through its official Twitter channel, the Warzone Mobile team announced immediate changes: real-money purchases are disabled, the game will disappear from app stores on May 18, and social features will be retired. The development team confirmed this decision resulted from the title's failure to meet Activision's standards for ongoing support.

What Players Need to Know About Warzone Mobile's Future

While delisting occurs on May 18, installed copies remain fully functional. Players can:

  • Access all previously downloaded content
  • Continue playing online matches via matchmaking
  • Use remaining COD Points in the static in-game store
  • Reinstall the game after May 19 if previously downloaded

Season 3 Battle Pass progression remains available, though no future Call of Duty content—including Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 4 updates—will transfer to the mobile version.
