Data reveals the game has lost approximately half its active player base since mid-May, bringing its numbers surprisingly close to those of the much older Monster Hunter World.

Launched in February 2025 to widespread acclaim, Monster Hunter Wilds initially shattered records with over 10 million units sold in its first month. The game maintained an impressive 89 average score on OpenCritic and became Capcom's fastest-selling title to date. However, three months post-launch, player retention appears to be waning significantly.

SteamCharts data shows a sharp decline from about 55,000 concurrent players to just 30,000 in the span of two weeks. This downward trend follows an expected post-launch drop from the game's peak of 1.17 million simultaneous players.
