Path of Exile 2 Update 0.2.1 Delayed
2025-05-28 03:10:53The 0.2.1 update for Path of Exile 2 has encountered a delay and is now scheduled for release in June 2025. This patch, focused on enhancing endgame content, was originally slated for late May 2025.
Since its early access launch in December 2024, Grinding Gear Games has been consistently refining this action RPG. Recent efforts have concentrated on improving Path of Exile 2's endgame, which many players criticized for being overly grindy and punishing.
GGG's upcoming update, designed to tackle these Path of Exile 2 criticisms, has been slightly delayed. Originally planned for the week of May 26, the developer has rescheduled it for the following week. Given that ARPG patches typically release on weekdays, the new expected launch window falls between June 2 and 6.
GGG announced the delay through their official forums, sharing additional details about the forthcoming patch. Key highlights include new Path of Exile 2 crafting socketables specifically designed to expand build diversity during endgame. These socketables cater to players who have progressed beyond early-game bonuses and are ready to optimize their characters.
Notable additions include Hedgewitch Assandra's Rune of Wisdom, granting +1 to all Spell skill levels when socketed into Wands or Staves. The update will also introduce Farrul's Rune of the Chase (boosting movement speed) and The Greatwolf's Rune of Willpower (redirecting 10% of incoming damage to Mana before affecting Health). In total, players can expect 22 new Runes.
Another exciting feature is Tacati's Soul Core of Affliction, one of 14 new Soul Cores obtainable through Trial of Chaos Ultimatum encounters. Unlike Soul Cores, the new Runes will be exclusive world drops rather than upgrades of existing ones.
GGG has committed to unveiling more unique items from the 0.2.1 update before week's end. Based on their communication patterns, these reveals will likely occur by Friday, May 30, as the developer typically avoids weekend announcements.
