NIS America has officially announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2026. This highly anticipated title continues the beloved Trails subseries, following the Western release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak 2 in February 2025.

Developed by Nihon Falcom, Trails Beyond the Horizon originally debuted in 2024 for PC and consoles in Asia. The game's narrative thrusts players into a pivotal moment for the continent of Zemuria, where humanity's survival hinges on venturing into space. Protagonists Van, Rean Schwarzer, and Kevin Graham will unravel Zemuria's secrets while forming alliances and honing their abilities. Fans can look forward to experiencing the game's blend of real-time and turn-based combat on Nintendo's next-gen console.

Expanding the Trails Universe

NIS America confirms Trails Beyond the Horizon will conclude the current story arc in the Legend of Heroes franchise. The game introduces innovative mechanics including:

• Shard Commands: Special party-wide bonuses
• Awakening System: Temporary character power boosts
• Z.O.C. Mechanics: Tactical enemy movement control

Players will confront the enigmatic Ouroboros organization in Grim Garten, a unique dungeon that permits using a "dream team" composed of characters from across Calvard and other regions.

Special Edition and Release Details

Originally slated for 2025 on PS4, PS5, PC, and Switch, the release was delayed to January 2026 to accommodate the Nintendo Switch 2 version. A premium Limited Edition is available for pre-order exclusively through the NIS Online Store, priced at $109.99. The collection includes:
