Lethal Company V70 Update Introduces Giant Sapsucker and Enhanced Gameplay Features

2025-06-02 05:10:14

On May 31, Lethal Company rolled out its highly anticipated V70 update, introducing the Giant Sapsucker as a new outdoor threat. This colossal woodpecker-like creature can swiftly dismantle ship doors with its powerful beak. While players can loot its eggs for scrap, doing so triggers an immediate hatch, alerting the Sapsucker to their presence.

Originally launched in October 2023, Lethal Company quickly rose to prominence in the indie gaming scene, becoming one of Steam's top titles in early 2024. The game's immersive maps and dynamic hazards have kept players engaged, while its success has inspired other indie co-op games like REPO. Despite fluctuating player counts, Lethal Company maintains an impressive 97% positive rating on Steam.

Lethal Company Update Adds New Creature

The V70 update, also known as The Incubating Update, marks the beginning of a series of planned patches aimed at refining level interiors and introducing new creatures. The Giant Sapsucker is most commonly found on the 56-Vow moon level, adding a fresh challenge for players.

The mansion interior has undergone significant changes, with eight new rooms and hallways added, along with interactive objects for scrap collection. Cabinets now spawn in hallways, and room sizes have been adjusted for better scale and exploration.

The radar system has been upgraded to include a face cam, allowing players to view teammates via the ship's terminal. Additionally, 2D sprites now display room layouts, and a compass and exit path indicator have been added to enhance navigation and teamwork.

New furniture items, such as a microwave, fridge, sofa chair, dog house, and electric chair, have been introduced, some of which are interactive or usable for storage.
