Dying Light: The Beast - Gameplay Trailer and Release Date Announcement Coming June 6
2025-06-04 00:11:55June 6 is set to be an exciting day for Dying Light enthusiasts, as Techland has officially announced the release date and a new gameplay trailer for Dying Light: The Beast. The game, first revealed at Gamescom 2024, was initially intended as an expansion for Dying Light 2 (2022). However, following a leak in 2023, the studio decided to transform it into a full-fledged game, albeit shorter than its predecessors.
In 2022, Techland released Dying Light 2, a highly successful sequel set after the events of the original game but without continuing the story of Kyle Crane. Instead, players assumed the role of Aiden Caldwell, a Pilgrim navigating between settlements. While Dying Light 2 received positive reviews, fans expressed a strong desire for Crane's return. Initially planned as a DLC for Dying Light 2, Techland ultimately opted to develop The Beast as a standalone experience.
After its official reveal in August 2024, which confirmed the return of Kyle Crane, fans have eagerly awaited more details. Techland showcased additional footage at The Game Awards 2024, but the full gameplay reveal and release date will debut on June 6 as part of Summer Game Fest. A teaser shared by Geoff Keighley, the event's host, confirmed the announcement, with the game targeting a Summer 2025 launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
While the pricing for The Beast remains unconfirmed, Techland has stated that owners of Dying Light 2's Ultimate Edition will receive the game for free. However, the Ultimate Edition was delisted on September 30, likely in anticipation of The Beast's release. Players who already own the Ultimate Edition—which includes the Bloody Ties DLC, exclusive weapons, outfits, and XP boosts—will gain access to The Beast at no extra cost. Others will need to purchase it separately.
Despite focusing on The Beast, Techland has outlined an ambitious 2025 roadmap for Dying Light 2. Fans can look forward to a Halloween event, a major Fall update, and a Winter Tales event. The studio is also working on new features, including additional weapon classes, free outfits and gear, community map support, prologue improvements, and graphical upgrades.
