Aggro Crab Announces New Co-op Adventure Game 'Peak' Launching June 16

The creative team at Aggro Crab, known for the charming Soulslike adventure Another Crab's Treasure, has unveiled their latest project - a cooperative climbing adventure titled Peak. Scheduled for release on June 16 via Steam, this new title represents a collaboration with Landfall Games, the studio behind quirky hits like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and Content Warning.

Another Crab's Treasure earned widespread acclaim as one of 2024's standout indie titles, featuring an endearing crustacean protagonist on a shell-recovery quest. Landfall's Content Warning offered a deceptively cheerful take on viral horror, while their physics-based Totally Accurate Battle Simulator delivered absurd battlefield chaos. This new partnership promises to blend both studios' strengths into a unique cooperative experience.

In Peak, players will undertake a perilous mountain ascent either solo or with up to three companions. The game's central challenge involves navigating four distinct biomes filled with environmental hazards, where teamwork becomes essential for overcoming obstacles like sheer cliffs and treacherous spikes. The ultimate goal? Reach the mountain's core to save a mysterious island from impending doom.

Survival mechanics add tension to the climbing experience, as players must scavenge for 30 different food items to maintain stamina and tend to injuries that progressively hinder their ascent. Character customization options will allow players to personalize their mountaineers with various outfits and accessories.

Interestingly, much of Peak's development occurred during an intensive month-long game jam, resulting in a focused cooperative experience that maintains Aggro Crab's signature colorful aesthetic. While designed primarily as a social experience, the developers have ensured solo players can still enjoy the challenging climb.

The announcement follows Aggro Crab's recent success with Another Crab's Treasure, which earned an 8/10 rating from Game Rant and 78% average on OpenCritic. With Peak, the studio appears to be pivoting from Soulslike combat to cooperative platforming while maintaining their trademark humor and creativity.
