Overwatch 2 Season 17: Powered Up - New Content and Exciting Features Revealed
2025-06-18 04:29:35Blizzard has officially unveiled the preview trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 17, titled "Powered Up," showcasing an array of fresh content that will soon hit the popular first-person shooter. The upcoming season promises to deliver new skins, exciting events, additional maps, and gameplay enhancements that are sure to captivate the Overwatch community.
Scheduled for release on June 24, Season 17 introduces several notable additions to Overwatch 2. While it may not bring revolutionary changes like Season 16's Stadium game mode or the introduction of the new damage hero Freja, it still packs plenty of exciting features to keep players engaged. Highlights include the brand-new Aatlis map, a map voting system for Competitive Play, and an impressive collection of skins and limited-time events.
One of the most groundbreaking aspects of Season 17 is the introduction of two Mythic skins available right from the season launch. Players can look forward to the Mythic Horang D.Va skin, which transforms the M.E.K.A. pilot into a powerful Siberian tiger spirit with customizable elements inspired by Sister Sun and Brother Moon. Additionally, Reaper receives the Steel Death Mythic Weapon skin, featuring shotguns that emit dark energy and create swirling shadow effects when eliminating enemies.
The Battle Pass and in-game shop will be stocked with numerous new cosmetic items, including:
- 8-bit themed skins for Reinhardt, Genji, Sombra (Premium), Orisa and Zenyatta (Free)
- Overwatch Academy-themed school outfits for Cassidy, Junkrat, and others
- Sakura-inspired skins for Ana, Mercy, and Lifeweaver
Map enthusiasts have plenty to anticipate in Season 17. The new Aatlis Flashpoint map, set in Morocco, will be added to the core game modes, with planned mid-season updates to existing Flashpoint maps. Furthermore, Esperanca and Samoa are being adapted for the Stadium mode, and a new Map Voting feature will allow Competitive Play participants to select from three randomly chosen maps before each match.
Season 17 also expands the Stadium roster with the addition of Sigma, Junkrat, and Zenyatta. The update introduces the Stadium Forge system, enabling players to create, save, and share custom build loadouts for each hero. Other Stadium improvements include the first rank reset, Competitive Drives, Custom Games, and an Unranked Mode supporting crossplay.
The season will feature several limited-time events:
- Powered Up Event (June 24-30) offering up to four Epic Loot Boxes
- Hacks & Hijinx (July 15-28), a chaotic 6v6 Control mode with random modifiers
- The anticipated return of Summer Games in the coming months
With these substantial updates and new content, Overwatch 2 Season 17: Powered Up is shaping up to be an exciting chapter in Blizzard's ever-evolving shooter. Players can mark their calendars for June 24 to experience all these new features firsthand.
