During a recent podcast appearance, Spencer not only emphasized one of the game's standout features but also referred to Mixtape as a "perfect Game Pass title" that he's excited to see release soon.

Developed by Australian studio Beethoven and Dinosaur, Mixtape was first unveiled in June 2024. The game presents a nostalgic coming-of-age narrative following three friends who revisit pivotal moments from their youth, triggered by a mystical playlist they hear while heading to their last summer gathering together. Annapurna Interactive, the game's publisher, initially announced a 2025 release window without specifying exact dates.

A year after its announcement, Mixtape made a brief appearance during the latest Xbox Games Showcase. Shortly after the June 2025 event, Phil Spencer spotlighted the game on The Official Xbox Podcast, stating: "I have to mention Mixtape - not just for its incredible soundtrack, but also because of our strong relationship with the talented development team."
