Borderlands 4 to Introduce Photo Mode in Post-Launch Update
2025-06-25 08:08:22Gearbox Software has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will include a Photo Mode, though players will need to wait for a post-launch update to access it. This marks only the second time in the franchise's history that this popular feature will be implemented, following its introduction in Borderlands 3. The original implementation came to PC at launch in September 2019, with console versions receiving the feature a month later.
The development team has been carefully considering player feedback while crafting Borderlands 4, implementing numerous quality-of-life improvements and new features. One such addition is the optional combat radar, which was incorporated after significant fan demand during pre-launch testing phases. With the game's September release approaching, Gearbox continues to refine the experience and may announce further enhancements.
Creative Director Graeme Timmins revealed that while Photo Mode was always part of the development plan, the team prioritized core gameplay mechanics and stability for the initial release. This decision reflects Gearbox's commitment to delivering a polished experience at launch, with additional features like Photo Mode scheduled for subsequent updates. The exact timing of this addition remains unspecified, leaving fans to speculate whether it will arrive in the first patch or a later update.
The inclusion of Photo Mode is particularly exciting given Borderlands 4's visual advancements, which early previews suggest may represent the series' most impressive graphical achievement yet. However, these improvements come with higher hardware demands, as evidenced by the game's system requirements excluding many current PC configurations.
