Little Nightmares Expands into VR with Altered Echoes and Announces New Projects
2025-06-25 17:14:37The beloved horror franchise Little Nightmares is making its first leap into virtual reality with the announcement of Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes. This marks one of two major new projects currently in development for the series, the other being the highly anticipated Little Nightmares 3.
Since its debut eight years ago, Little Nightmares has grown into one of Bandai Namco’s most celebrated horror IPs. While concerns arose after Embracer Group acquired original developer Tarsier Studios in 2019, the franchise found new life when Supermassive Games took over development in 2023. Now, the series is set to introduce fresh protagonists and an unexpected VR experience, signaling an exciting new chapter.
During the recent Little Nightmares Showcase Event, Bandai Namco unveiled Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes—a standalone project separate from Little Nightmares 3. The eerie teaser featured a cave-like setting with a mysterious door, a haunting music box, and a chilling scream, leaving fans intrigued by the cryptic message: 'Every step echoes closer... does this tune sound familiar, little ones?'
In addition to the VR announcement, the event confirmed Little Nightmares 3's release date for October 10, 2025, alongside an enhanced version of the original game. Pre-orders for various editions of Little Nightmares 3 are now available across platforms.
Beyond gaming, the franchise is expanding into other media, including the Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere comic, The Sounds of Little Nightmares audio series, The Lonely Ones novel, and an untitled stop-motion project. This follows previous cross-media ventures like the Little Nightmares-inspired comics.
