On July 15, ArenaNet officially announced Guild Wars 2's highly anticipated sixth expansion, titled Visions of Eternity. After a two-month delay, the expansion is now set to launch on October 28, bringing a wealth of new content to the beloved MMORPG. Players can look forward to fresh elite specializations, an enhanced skimmer mount, fashion templates, and a unified raid and strike mission interface.

The expansion will transport adventurers to the enigmatic island of Castora, a location shrouded in mystery and long believed to be mythical. At launch, Castora will offer two expansive open-world regions for exploration, with two additional zones planned to unlock as the story unfolds through 2025 and 2026.

Following weeks of teasing on social media, ArenaNet confirmed the return of Elite Specializations in Visions of Eternity. Each profession will receive new trait lines, mechanics, and skills, providing players with innovative ways to customize their characters. An open beta test focusing on these specializations is scheduled for August 20-27, giving players an early opportunity to experience the new content.

The expansion introduces significant quality-of-life improvements, including upgrades to the Skimmer mount for better navigation through Castora's challenging terrain. Fashion enthusiasts will appreciate the new templates system, allowing for easy swapping between cosmetic setups similar to existing build and equipment templates.

Pre-orders for Visions of Eternity are now available, with the Standard Edition priced at $24.99. Unlike previous expansions, the new elite specializations won't introduce new weapon options but will instead focus on enhancing existing professions with fresh abilities and customization features. The expansion also promises a streamlined approach to raids and strikes, with a new unified structure set to debut in 2026.

Players who own both Janthir Wilds and Visions of Eternity will gain access to an exclusive Homestead feature. As the story unfolds on the uncharted island of Castora, the expansion promises to deliver another thrilling chapter in the Guild Wars 2 saga.
