Marvel Rivals Season 3 Update: New Heroes and Major Balance Changes
2025-07-03 08:28:51Marvel Rivals players have plenty to look forward to as NetEase Games prepares to launch Season 3 on July 11. The upcoming season brings significant gameplay changes, including two new playable characters and numerous balance adjustments across the roster.
The mutant telepath Jean Grey joins the battle as a ranged Duelist, specializing in dealing damage from a distance. Later in the season, the vampire hunter Blade will make his debut as another Duelist character during the mid-season update expected in August. This marks a shift to more frequent content updates, with seasons now lasting two months and new characters arriving approximately every four weeks.
NetEase has revealed comprehensive balance changes coming with Season 3. Several Vanguard-class characters receive adjustments, including The Thing gaining a new ability called Battle Blitz - a leaping attack that provides damage reduction. Venom's Cellular Corrosion ability now applies a stronger slow effect, increasing from 15% to 25%.
Duelist characters see significant tweaks as well. Iron Man's ultimate ability now requires more energy to activate (increased from 2,800 to 3,400), while Mister Fantastic's Inflated state provides slightly less bonus health. Spider-Man loses his Team-Up Anchor bonus but gains improved damage on several abilities.
Strategist characters aren't left out of the balancing act. Invisible Woman's Orb Projection offers stronger initial healing and damage (increased from 40 to 45 healing and 20 to 25 damage), though the return effects are slightly weaker. Loki players will need to accumulate more energy (4,300 instead of 4,000) to activate his ultimate ability.
Season 3 introduces new Team-Up Abilities, including Ever-Burning Bond between Human Torch and Spider-Man, and Primal Flame combining Phoenix and Wolverine. Some existing Team-Up Abilities have been adjusted or removed to maintain game balance.
