Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now dive into Herdling as part of their membership, starting today, August 21. This marks the 11th new addition to the service in August 2025 and the 106th new release on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate since the start of the year.

Developed by Okomotive, a Swiss studio established in 2017 known for post-apocalyptic vehicle adventures like FAR: Lone Sails and FAR: Changing Tides, Herdling invites players to guide a herd of mythical Calicorns through mountainous terrain. Described as a wordless narrative built on trust, the game features stunning post-apocalyptic visuals and environmental puzzles, making it an ideal choice for fans of exploration-focused, relaxing end-of-the-world experiences.

Following its initial reveal a year ago, Okomotive's newest title launched on August 21 for PC and consoles. As promised, Herdling debuted as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, accessible to both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Those with the highest tier membership can also stream the indie adventure via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

As a day-one release, Herdling is currently exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and not available on the Standard tier. Based on Microsoft's historical patterns, this distinctive adventure might join the Standard library between February and August 2026. This is the second Okomotive game to feature on the service, after FAR: Changing Tides, which was added in March 2022 and removed in February 2023. If trends continue, Herdling could arrive on Xbox Game Pass Standard in early 2026 and potentially exit around its first anniversary.

Two additional titles are confirmed to join Xbox Game Pass before August 2025 concludes. The first is Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the classic 2006 shooter, scheduled for August 26. Following closely, BioWare's Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to arrive on August 28.

New and Upcoming Xbox Game Pass Games

By August 31, Xbox Game Pass will bid farewell to five titles, including Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay, Borderlands 3, and Sea of Stars. Ben 10: Power Trip and This War of Mine: Final Cut are also departing on the same date. The Wave 1 lineup for September is expected to be officially announced on September 2 in the afternoon ET.
