Niantic has officially announced an exciting Max Battle Day event in Pokemon GO, featuring the fan-favorite Gigantamax Lapras. This limited-time event will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, giving trainers another chance to encounter this powerful Water/Ice-type Pokemon in its massive Gigantamax form.

Lapras has been a staple in Pokemon GO since the game's launch in 2016, appearing in various forms over the years. The Shiny variant was introduced in 2019 during the Sentosa Safari Zone event, while Shadow Lapras debuted later that year. Now, trainers will have the opportunity to battle and potentially catch the impressive Gigantamax version of this classic Kanto Pokemon.

The event will feature several exciting bonuses for participants:

• Increased Remote Raid Pass limit to 20 from July 18-19
• Max Particle collection limit boosted to 1,600
• Reduced adventuring distance for Max Particles
• Double Max Particles from exploration
• More frequent Power Spot refreshes
• Eight times more Max Particles from Power Spots
• Two additional Special Trades allowed

Niantic is also offering special Timed Research starting July 14, rewarding players with a Dynamax Passimian encounter, Passimian Candy, and Max Particles. For those looking to enhance their experience, a $4.99 event ticket provides additional bonuses including a Max Mushroom and increased XP rewards.

This Max Battle Day marks the first reappearance of Gigantamax Lapras since its debut in 2024. Following this event, Pokemon GO's July schedule includes the debut of Tatsugiri on July 15 and the introduction of Honedge and its evolutionary line on July 22.
