After the official servers shut down in January 2025, a group of dedicated players has been developing Elder Scrolls: Legends Reborn, a fan-made revival of the beloved strategy game.

The disappearance of online games has become an increasing concern in the gaming industry, sparking movements like the Stop Killing Games petition which has gathered over a million signatures. This fan project represents a grassroots effort to preserve gaming history.

The revival effort is being led by Reddit user RenianVZ, who began developing server emulation technology as early as December 2024. Recent progress includes a functional multiplayer system, complete with working card animations and voice lines, as demonstrated in a gameplay video.

While the project shows promise, the development team cautions that Legends Reborn remains in early stages. Current limitations include randomly generated decks during multiplayer matches. The team is actively seeking additional developers, particularly for front-end improvements.

Bethesda's history of supporting fan projects offers hope for the initiative's future. This tolerance is evidenced by ongoing fan remakes like Skyblivion, which continues development alongside official Bethesda releases.
