Grinding Gear Games has officially announced that Path of Exile 2’s next major update, Version 0.3.0, is set to launch on August 29. This update will introduce a brand-new League, bringing fresh content and gameplay mechanics to the action RPG. The game initially debuted in Early Access last December, receiving praise for its engaging gameplay and high player engagement. However, recent feedback has highlighted concerns about endgame content and difficulty balancing.

Since its release, Path of Exile 2 has seen only one major update—Version 0.2.0, titled Dawn of the Hunt, which launched on April 4, 2025. This update introduced the Huntress class, new mechanics, and additional Unique items. Grinding Gear Games also revamped the endgame experience, including changes to the Atlas of Worlds, new maps, and the introduction of Unique strongboxes. Despite these efforts, the update led to a noticeable decline in player numbers, with many returning to Path of Exile 1.

In a recent forum post on the official Path of Exile 2 website, Grinding Gear Games confirmed that Version 0.3.0 will follow a quarterly content schedule, similar to Path of Exile 1. The new League will feature exclusive content, requiring players to start fresh characters rather than using existing ones from the Standard League. This approach aims to create a balanced economy and a level playing field for all participants.

The upcoming update promises significant additions, including new combat mechanics, rewards, crafting options, and challenging bosses. A separate trade market will be established for Version 0.3.0, allowing only items obtained within the League to be traded. Further details about the update will be revealed one week before its official launch.

The Dawn of the Hunt update sparked mixed reactions, with some players criticizing its increased difficulty and pacing. Grinding Gear Games has emphasized that Path of Exile 2 is designed to be a slower, more methodical experience compared to its predecessor.
