Relic Entertainment has officially announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Definitive Edition will launch on August 24. This remastered version of the classic RTS game, originally released in 2004, brings enhanced visuals and gameplay improvements while preserving the original's dark, war-torn atmosphere. The game will be available on PC via Steam and GOG.com.

Set in the grim future of the 41st millennium, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War plunges players into an endless conflict between humanity and various alien and demonic forces. The game offers four playable factions: the Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks. Over the years, Relic expanded the game with three DLCs—Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm—each adding new factions and campaigns. The franchise continued with Dawn of War 2 in 2006 and Dawn of War 3 in 2017, but the original remains a fan favorite.

The Definitive Edition introduces several upgrades, including improved lighting, reflections, and higher-resolution textures for all units. The game also features an enhanced camera system and increased draw distances, offering a more cinematic experience. Additionally, a built-in Mod Manager will allow players to easily install community-created mods.

Priced at $29.99, Dawn of War Definitive Edition includes all previous expansions, totaling four campaigns, nine factions, and over 200 maps. Owners of the Anniversary Edition will receive a 30% discount. While no new content or DLC is planned, the remaster ensures this classic title remains accessible to modern audiences.
