Ready or Not Mod Reverses Censorship After Controversial Update

Shortly after the release of Ready or Not's Los Suenos Stories update, which introduced censorship to the PC version, a mod surfaced to reverse most of these changes. VOID Interactive had previously warned players about necessary adjustments before the game's console launch, but the community has been vocal in its opposition to these modifications.

The Los Suenos Stories update, launched in July, brought numerous improvements including two new missions, additional weapons, an enhanced difficulty system, and smarter AI. However, it also implemented significant censorship, toning down nudity, removing references to child abuse, and disabling dismemberment effects.

The update has faced considerable backlash, with the game's Steam reviews plummeting to "Mostly Negative." Players have expressed frustration over the changes, arguing they detract from the game's realism and intensity.

In response, modder "eman734" created "Uncensored or Not," a modification that restores the removed content. The mod, available on Nexus Mods, brings back nudity, dismemberment, and sensitive thematic elements. While still in development, the creator promises further updates to reinstate any additional censored material.

To access the mod, players must enable adult content in their Nexus Mods account settings due to its mature nature. This involves navigating to "Site Preferences" and adjusting the content filters.

VOID Interactive has maintained that the censorship was necessary to align the PC and console versions. However, many players believe the changes should have been optional for PC users, perhaps implemented as a toggleable "realism mode" that would automatically disable crossplay when active.

While the developer appears committed to its decision, the modding community has stepped in to preserve the game's original vision. This situation highlights the ongoing tension between creative expression and content regulation in modern gaming.
